IAM statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address

The following is a statement from Insurance Alliance of Michigan Executive Director Tricia Kinley reacting to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address.

“We applaud Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for using her State of the State address to highlight the critical reforms passed last year to fix Michigan’s broken, outdated auto no-fault system. We also commend lawmakers from both sides of the aisle for working together to pass legislation that is cracking down on fraud and abuse, reining in overcharging by medical providers, and giving consumers a choice in their level of medical coverage. We are already seeing the positive signs of reform with the fee reduction announced by the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association. Moving forward, the Legislature and governor should oppose requests to turn back the clock and water down these historic reforms."
